Thank you ArtFolk!"- Leah Craig Chumbley, Executive Director, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue
ArtFolk was born from a mutual longing for connection and creative community. Jennifer and Kelly met following Tropical Storm Helene—a time when many, artists and non-artists alike, were rebuilding and seeking ways to reconnect. From this sense of collective need emerged a vision: a welcoming, inclusive space where folks could gather, create, and connect. That vision became ArtFolk. Today, we continue to grow through pop-up workshops and community events, with plans to establish a permanent space where creativity, connection, and belonging can flourish year-round.
In the Spotlight

Kelly Reese
I’m Kelly — a local artist, teacher, and lover of all things creative. My artistic journey has been slow and self-taught, which has given me a deep empathy for others on a similar path. I especially love working with beginners and witnessing the moment when a creative spark comes alive. To me, you’re an artist the moment you pick up a paintbrush, a crochet hook, or even a glue stick. My family and I moved to Weaverville in 2019, and I’ve fallen deeply in love with this vibrant, creative place. It brings me so much joy to gather folks together and see the connections and creativity that naturally unfold. It’s a privilege to be part of this community, and my greatest hope is to help nurture it and see it grow through art.

Jennifer Jacey
Hi! I’m Jennifer Jacey, and for most of my life, I didn’t consider myself an Artist. I thought that title belonged to people with formal training, gallery shows, and studios. Now, I’m a multi-passionate mixed media creator who believes the only requirement for being an artist is…to make art.Along my slow, winding journey, I’ve learned just how challenging it can be to embrace your inner artist, especially on your own. Doubts, fears of not being “good enough,” and uncertainty about where or how to start can easily block creativity. They certainly did for me! I’ve always wished for a space where people could be supported as they rediscover their inner artist (even if they don’t yet believe they are one!) and learn to unlock their creativity from whatever blocks its natural flow.ArtFolk is that space I've longed for: A welcoming, non-judgmental, local community where seasoned artists, makers, and curious beginners come together to encourage one another, explore new forms of creativity, and make art simply for the joy of expression.
